A court hearing was held on September 7, 2022, and no decision has been made, so a preliminary injunction was filed to delay the enforcement of the 90 days rule. Ordinance 22-7 of Bill 41 has received pushback from the community, where one advocacy group named Hawaii Legal Short-Term Rental Alliance (HILSTRA) has officially filed a complaint to contest it. There are some homes or condos outside of resort-zoned areas that have a short-term rental license grandfathered in from the past, but for the most part, if you run a short-term rental or Airbnb outside of the resort-zoned areas, then you're allowed to rent them for a minimum of 30 days.
